2610 - night mode

In night mode all the roads are red against a dark background and impossible to see.

Have I got some settings wrong somewhere?

In my garmin units... Settings/Display Settings/Colour mode and turn from auto to Daytime.

On the 2610 it's: Menu, Map Setup, Color Mode - set to "Day" as opposed to "Auto".

I agree; the night colour gamut is total pants.

Off to disable it now. Thanks for the heads up to remind me how.

But isn't the night mode there for a reason? I always assumed that it was so that your eyes would get more accustomed to the dark - just like you have red lights at night in submarines.

mines been in day mode for ages. no problems at all at night.

So is the conclusion the best way to fix this is not to use night mode? That's a bit crap.

No. The night mode is perfectly useful, but you will have to play around with the contrast (at night ). You will be able to find a setting that's perfectly useable day & night. For some reason, 2610s often seem to be shipped with a contrast setting which is useless at night.
