2610 stupid question

Now i know this may sound like a stupid question with an obvious answer, but im gonna ask any way. I purchased my 2610 second hand and it came with V8 mapping disc.
When i turn the unit on it states maps loaded are Southampton, London and Portsmouth. Is this correct, as it still finds my house in Bolton. Do i need to down load more of the UK to get more detail ?

Why does it find my house if it states the above maps are loaded ?

If you zoom right out to show the whole of the UK you will see which maps are installed. They will be the highlighted segments.

Why don't you just re-load all the maps you need and then you can be sure you've got what you need on your unit

Paul, to confirm v8 is loaded ok try this. Get it so its finding its signal then press menu, then info on the screen. Then map info on the screen and it should show whats loaded. Someone will prob have a quicker way but it works for me. Trial and error and all that.

When you load maps the existing ones on the unit are deleted and replaced with the new ones

Do you mean on the screen after the "safety warning" screen? If so the previous owner probably just named the "map set" Southampton / London / Pompey, but loaded more on than that. What sized card?
