Nige, I received my DVD today and by following the onscreen instructions it all worked (eventually!) updating first the cartography on the PC used by MapSource and then my 2720.

You cannot update the cartography on the 2720 by sending the maps from MapSource: you have to update it using the update version of the DVD. I take it this is the one you have?

The DVD wont be read on my laptop, for some unknown reason:nenau
so i installed it onto my main base unit PC.
ill just have to play around with it now:spitfire

I done it: Clap: bounce1

Ok, ill tell all about this, just in case someone else has the same problem.
My laptop wouldn’t read my new V9 NT DVD, so, I took it upstairs to my Main Home Base unit. Plugged it in, installed the DVD and got the unlock code for the new Update DVD, all ok, but I never got any prompts to update the map data on the 2720.
I spent the next two days scratching my head:nenau
Trying over and over again, reinstalling ECT.
I then explored the DVD and found a "read me" file, in small writing I read:
"This firmware will only work on a high speed USB port"
Well that was it; I had plugged the 2720 into my USB 7 port HUB:rob
I plugged it into the USB plug directly on the base unit and bingo.:clap
So, now as im typing, its updating the cartography on my 2720:bounce1

Glad to hear you've cracked it :thumb

FWIW, I had my SP2720 plugged in to a powered hub on my PC and it still updated fine. I must admit that I don't understand why Garmin's USB drivers are so picky over the USB connections :nenau

Still, good advice for anyone else who has trouble :beerjug:
