3-Bond 1209

I am looking for a alternate liquid gasket for 3-Bond 1209, the sealant that BMW calls for to join the case halves. I have searched the web for 1209 with no luck, I am beginning to believe that the product does not exist. I know that I need a sealant for a zero clearance compression. Yamabond may work or a Loctite product.

Try your local dealer Im sure there let you have some. I had a look for you but couldnt find it either.

Had a look and found this part number BMW Part # 07 58 9 062 376.

Give to your dealer and see what he comes up with.

the 3 bond product you refer to as 'Yamabond' is TB 1194
Semi drying elastomer, according to the box, my local 3 bond man tells me that it was developed for a Yamaha application, and the name has stuck , excuse the pun.

if you cannot get that then go for a loctite 5900 or similar, dont use any old silicone,only high grade for AUTOMOTIVE use, not the bathroon variety
3 bond is mainly an OE product and generaly not to freely available for the aftermarket ( well in the UK anyway )

All the big 4 use a similar product in the workshop - we used kawasaki bond - butthey are all similar
