thats better than here as far as I am aware our police bikes have NO wty at all, aint that good value for your taxes!!
Yes they do have a warranty. Mind you, that doesnt cover abuse.:D

includ recovery 3y 36000m:beerjug:

Recovery yes, but a friend of mine was told good for x miles then big $'s per mile after that. He asked to be delivered to a harley dealer 5 miles away rather than the BMW shop which was 163 miles away.

Sadly we can be several hundred miles from the nearest BMW shop.

Need to check on that
Thanks for the advise:thumb2

Being in florida I would guess that you are less than 100 miles from a dealer. Let me/us know what you find out.:thumb2

3 yrs warranty on a 1200GS would be the end of BMW Motorcycles. Far too many problems and far too costly for the manufacturer to fix under warranty. It might however force them to redesign the bike properley and get rid of all the unreliable bits - so yes could be a good thing.

Not sure about it being the end of BMW motorcycles, I imagine there is a fair amount of cash built into the cost of the average BMW bike or car to cover quite a few warranty claims. My opinion is that 3 years should be the norm, why do BMW GB differentiate between motorcycles and cars? I had over 8K worth of warranty work completed on my M3 CSL a couple of months before it expired and to be fair to BMW, they also replaced the clutch free of charge 6 months after it had expired - usual cost would have been 2K.

What is a little more unfortunate is that your level of service is largely dependent upon the your dealer. They make a recommendation and BMW GB usually follow suit. If you have an uncooperative dealer then your usually out of luck.

My very first bike after passing my test back in 1990 was a brand new Kawasaki ZXR750H2...loved that bike and cared for it like a baby, only got used in the best of weather and was regularly cleaned, polished and liberally covered in WD40. With that in mind 6 months later the rear subframe was rusting and there was widespread corrosion. Even though it was covered by warranty it didn't even occur to me that I could make a claim. If that was the case on a current bike (now I'm a little older and wise) it would be straight back to the dealer to get the offending bits replaced. The majority will probably never make a warranty claim on their car or motorcycle so in reality the additional year probably wouldn't cost BMW quite as much as you think, but it would boost customer confidence in their products. BMW is a premium brand after all and charges accordingly.

... If I was in charge :rob , I'd whack a three year warranty on any unsold 2007 models, back to 2 years for the new 2008.

... I'm reckon they might do better, in terms of generating more overall revenue to cover warranty and goodwill claims, if they lopped £200 off the year3 warranty extension cost. I'm sure the uptake would be far greater.

... To their credit BWM appear to have done a lot of 3rd year 'goodwill' work :thumb

... Fortunately I'm not in charge :D
