Here's another thing to think about servicing… the trust you need in the person who works on your bike.
After all you ride the thing at high speeds…you don't want someone forgetting' to fully tighten a nut or bolt. You would also want someone who would service the bike as if it was his own.
Also you don't want charged for work that BMW say should be done but does not really need done, brake fluid change etc.
And you want someone to warn you of any problem that you may not have noticed and not asked for as part of the servicing.
Also the age of the bike... you would want FSH by BMW for the first couple of years if you're only keeping the bike that long before selling to get a fresher model.
If you have an older bike or are going to keep the bike a long time full BMW service history is not as important. You won't make the extra cost of the BMW servicing back when you sell the bike.
So Steptoes deals would seem just the thing for many people.

Even if you have to travel a fair bit to reach him it could still save you money over BMW costs.. and he gives free cheese sticks
