Is there some free software that will convert .3gp files to .mov or .mp4 format?

Yes. And I have used it for exactly that purpose. Unfortunately it's on the other PC and I can't remember just now, I'll check later. I think many of the convertor programes for PSP (playstation portable) video should do it.

Do you just want to chnage teh format or also change the resolution etc?
