I run this app on my Android phone. It is handy to have as a back-up to the Zumo. It uses Here maps like Garmin. I have tested it on a trip to the coast and the navigation is pretty decent, once you realise you have to press the red soft button on the phone to make the phone share the routing to the bike every time you switch off the ignition even for a moment to take a piss. The MG App can import GPX routes so it makes sense to transfer my routes for a forthcoming trip to the app as a back-up.

Yesterday to get my routes from a Zumo 390 onto my new Moto Guzzi nav app I had to do some file manipulation. The Zumo puts the files into GPX 1.1 but Moto Guzzi does not format the route properly unless I make the files GPX 1.0. I used the free version of My Route App, MRA, to examine the files in a different application and used that to convert the files to 1.0. I now have the Zumo as primary satnav with the MG app as a back-up should the 8 year old Zumo expire on my trip next month.

I might experiment with the Zumo and MG app running at the same time to see how much they fall out on the routing.

That’s a good idea. It’s the only way to see how the two differ in real time and to discover the quirks.
