My red 80GS was parked in the secure, safe, parking area at the Daventry Motorcycle Festival when a woman on her trike lost control and ploughed into the parked bikes waiting for the show parade, front wheel pawing the air, she went into or over 6 or 7 bikes. Her insurers have closed the claim, I only found out yesterday, because I chased it (8th June this happenrd). 3 claims handlers later and they just closed it without sorting my bike out, which has been at Overland & Classic ever since awaiting instructions to start. Mikeyboy has already furnished them with pictures and an initial breakdown of damage, but they refuted it and want more pictures of the same damage and a video of the bike.
What to do please? They are refusing to do anything now.
Thanks,
Simon.

Surely your own insurer is involved as you will have notified them. It will be in their interests to have the 3rd party insurer meet what sounds like a very valid claim. A number of years ago my own insurer did all the legwork chasing the other party's insurance company.

The driver at fault insurance contacted me the very next morning and took control... I didn't know any better than to go along with their wishes. It took them over 3 months to pay out for my helmet, which was sat on the bike rack at the time. No dispute about any liability, we all had about 100 witnesses, including the stewards of the event, who did say if there was any problem the event insurance would sort us all out. I feel sorry for the chap with the 1958 Gilera, he had just finished a 5 year, full restoration on it and that was it's first time out of the workshop..... it was mangled and the rear mudguard was ripped off. He was not very polite... :augie

Anyway, I have got hold of the underwriters and they are appalled at the situation, immediately kicked the loss adjuster (or whatever they were) into touch and have taken over everything themselves - straight away approved Mikeyboy to do the repairs. Finally, some forward progress. :thumby:

always the best way - we had to do this with a house insurance claim on behalf of my mother after a water leak, The broker's claims handler was hopeless despite us saving them money by binning the fitted bedroom furniture for separate units. They struggled with not replacing like with like.
My sister, who worked for a builder dealing with insurance claims all of the time simply contacted the underwriter Groupama and the claim was settled a few days later.

I think anyone acting between you and your insurance claim are acting not on your behalf. JJH
