You can skip large chunks of it going on the old A9....or even better the A93.....
Rode your planned route a couple of years ago.
Your Day 2 itinerary will be nigh purgatory trying to cover that distance along the north and west coasts of Scotland.
They are some of the most beautiful roads and you'll be riding just for the sake of covering distance IMHO.
Good luck, though.
i agree - Day 2 will be a slog - we lived in Lochinver for 7 years (we had the pub / restaurant in the village - sold last year) i know those roads well.

Bonar Bridge up to Toungue or alternatively Bonar Bridge up past loch shin is stunning and takes you to Laxford Bridge and onto the best stretch of road in the UK imo.
Thanks haditlowered,
i'm thinking of ditching the JOG bit and heading more or less strait up on day 2 from Inverness toTongue basically using the Scotland tour route day 3 in bikers britain. Many people have said slogging all the way upto JOG on the A9 is pointless and i'll be missing so much ove the main highland routs.
The plan is changing / refining every month but all these bits of advise are helping to shape the final route.
Cheers

yes its looking like am - inverness, bonar bridge, lairg, Aitnaharra, tongue, Duness, 115 miles ish
pm - Durness ,Laxford Bridge, B869 to drumbeg, lochinver, ledmore junction, ullapool 118 miles ish
Thanks for the tip Cabby![]()
I did Ullapool to Thurso in not much more than a morning, recently (taking in Inverpolly and Lochinver) - adding in the run via JOG to Inverness doesn't seem like much of a stretch in a day, to be honest?
I suppose it's each to their own...
We spent a day riding from Torridon to Durness, and thoroughly enjoyed every mile of it on the winding coastal roads. Doing a nigh 300-mile day is something I keep for the times I have to get places in a hurry.![]()
