Did 400 mile yesterday & my ass is still tender this morning ,is there anything i can put over the origional seat to make it better or will i need to change it .
Has any one tried the air cover things look's like a small air bed

Dont know how many miles you have on your bike ? but I found the first 5000k a five star bum throbber.

Have done 10000km now and i find it all day comfy, either the seat has broken in or my arse has ??

From personal experience, BMW car seats are exactly the same. Hard - a bit like church pews.

Do you think the BMW seat designer is Prussian?

Can't agree with Rod more!! got an Airhawk 2 ( the cheaper version) all the way to Garmisch and back ,no numb bum.Just under 500 miles in one day on the return, they are great, brillant what more can I say fantastic.,

AirHawk

I recently purchased an Airhawk to improve my wifes comfort
whilst on long journeys. Suffice to say it worked a treat.
My biggest surprise though was when I tried it out for myself.
I have personally done in excess of 80K on my ADV and thought my @rse was molded to the shape of the seat and no further comfort was needed.
How wrong I was!!
The Airhawk has now become a permanent fixture at my end of the seat. The difference is amazing. Where in the past I would normally take a rest after 2 hours of motorway travel to stretch my legs, I now find that there’s no physical need to stop and I can ride the limit of my tank without any fatigue.
The Airhawk as added about 1.5 – 2 cm to the ride height so I now find I’m on tippy-toes when stopped.
For reference I have the cruiser medium pad.

If your bum gets a bit numb, just stand up on the pegs for 30 secs to a minute, and wiggle around. Completely restores the circulation and all returns to normal.

Cheaper than extra seat bits that's for sure.

Don,'t think the wife would like that to much (but you never know)
I have been on the Airhawk web site & got the budget one £53 inc vat & delivery :D

I am just back from a 6100 mile trip round Europe, with ain AirHawk.

Works a treat. I'll be putting a writeup on my site sometime soon.

Hi. I did Lands End - J'Ogroats using an airhawk seat on my then Triumph Sprint RS.
I thought it was ace. I never suffered with numb bum. and spent 10hrs on the bike per day (went scenic route!!)
I am yet to try it on my 1200GS, have to wait for the long trip I guess!
Anyway, HIGHLY recomended, (and so say anyone else who has used one)

Chamois leather cycling shorts.........cheaper than an airhawk and won't get nicked when you're away from the bike.

Might make you look like you have a full nappy if you happen to wear tight leathers but wtf, we ride GS's, who cares what we look like :D

I'm with Tobers on this one... and if you have a pillion.... (She) can do the honours and massage your behind while you stand.....

(doesn't help the fatigue, but damn well feels nice :D )
