.....votes for best accommodation in Wales for the BMW off road school guys ? My 8yr old boys pressie for his dad is the stage 1 two day course in August - any recommendations ?

Best off staying at pub that serves the meal to the group after the first day. Can't for the life if me remember the name though. I ended up staying at the ynescedwyn arms ( excuse the spelling). You will get a list of possible accommodation sent to you, ask them where the meal is going to be served and book for there. Saves pissing about with taxis. Simon pavey now offers accom in his place ( I stayed for one night) it's very nice but more expensive than some others if money is an issue. You will love it. Enjoy.

Meal on the evening is at the Abercrave Inn

Personally I stayed at the old Tredegar just 2 minutes from the base - owned by Simon Pavey and a great place to stay from my experience. I managed to get a lift with Simon to the Abercrave so didn't have to drive in any case - but certainly wouldn't recommend having a skinfull the night before the second day as you'll enjoy the day better without it.

The whole experience was fantastic so relax and enjoy!

Am booked on day in the dirt in June and the next level in September.

You'll be needing one that welcomes 1200 owners, then?

Good luck :thumb2

PS Try the Taffy section.... Or ask your son to call the school itself; they have probably been asked the question before.

The Abercraf, its OK, did the course for my 37 4/12 birthday. It is brilliant as an off road taster where you don't give two hoots about the bike getting damaged
Enjoy it

:thumb +1 There is also a pub/resturaunt near Simons place that serves good grub so that is also an option. I loved it, there were a couple of Irish guys that were on there 7th visit, they have done the level 1 and 2 numerous times and reckon due to the varying conditions and skills of the people attending meant that it was a different challenge each time. For us is was 23 degrees and very dusty! In Wales in march

New Swan Inn

I've stayed a couple of times at the New Swan Inn which is about 10 minutes walk from the ORS.

The place isn't posh, but the welcome is one of the warmest around. Gareth, the landlord, and his staff go out of their way to be helpful. Plus, he's a biker and small round sportsfan with Sky Sports showing pretty much non-stop. The pub is adorned with mini-motos and sporting memorabilia.

Be warned though, food service stops early and so needs to be booked - else the Indian takeaway 300m down the road is good. There are also live bands on frequently so you might not get an early night's kip.

He is happy to arrange transport for guests to the course meal.

So, if this sort of your place is your bag, it comes heartily recommended.

I've gone for the Abercraveinn Inn in the end. Thanks for the advice guys. Really looking forward to it - 5 GS's and 184,000 miles and I've never taken one more off road than the front garden or a grass car park.....
