Hi all,

Been thinking I could do with a bike to spend a bit more time offroad on (much as I love my GSA LC, it would give me a hernia trying to pick it up out of a muddy pit - not to mention the bl**dy tears!), anyway, a local boy is selling a 2009 450X pretty much unmodified except for a remus full system, needs new tyres and has only done 1500 miles or so. It looks in pretty good condition in the photos he's sent me but I am looking at it in person on the weekend just to be sure, there's a few scratches and scrapes which he's coughed to but it looks honest and there's a spare set of plastics - also used I assume - to go with the bike.

Any ideas about value, tops tips on issues and problems?

He's asking for £2900 but is hoping for £2700 from the conversation I've had with his dad, is this reasonable?

Any advice is appreciated :-)

Andy

Sounds cheap enough considering the mileage. I bought a G650GS Sertao to use on green lanes but it was too heavy for me to use in this way so traded it in for a Honda CRF250 which I love. A nearly new low mileage CRF can be bought for £3,000 and I only paid £3,600 for mine new

I'd check to see whether it has been an ex off road school bike, as if so I think they were being sold off for less than that at the time.

The early bikes were not without their niggles, so I'd be doing a test ride on it, checking it starts okay when hot etc.

I'd also consider a Husky TE449, which is an evolvement of the G450x. If you can, go for a 2012 model (black frame)

You could always try sending a PM to Mark (merlings1200) of this Parish as I believe he has one and could give you his opinion of them.

I have one used for trail riding and jollies to Spain. Lightish, plenty quick and multi adjustable suspension (Ohlins). Sidestand is made of chocolate so dont use it to climb aboard.
I like it
