It looks like pretty much all insurers use 4th Dimension for claims handing. So far that's Bennetts, BeMoto, Bikesure.

was trying to find a company that don't use them, but it's looking like that may be hard.

I read that, smart arse. That’s why I want to avoid 4th dimension but nowhere in that thread does it discuss whether I can decline to use 4th dimension, which is the designated claims handler for many insurance companies and appoint Macams.

You seem to be having some difficulty with comprehension

#1 Do you have to use the "claims handling company" your insurance says?

#2 No, you do not have to use them

I am with Bikesure, and this is what it says in my policy under the 'make a claim' section;

"If you have an accident, you must take all possible steps to protect your vehicle and its accessories and contents. If the damage to your vehicle is covered by this insurance, you must call 4th Dimension, who will recover your vehicle or arrange for it to be taken to the nearest repairer. The insurer will accept any reasonable costs as part of your claim. The insurer will not pay for any further damage you cause if you try to use your vehicle. Repairs will first be handled by 4th Dimension or another repairer approved by the insurer. If your vehicle is repaired by a repairer other than 4th Dimension, when your vehicle is with that repairer you must get an estimate for the cost of the repairs and send it to the insurer immediately. One of the insurer’s approved assessors must inspect your vehicle before any repairs are started. The insurer will not be responsible for the cost of any new parts or accessories ordered, or repairs carried out, without their agreement. If the insurer thinks the estimate for the cost of repairs is unreasonable, they may negotiate a lower estimate, pay for any emergency work that has been carried out so the vehicle could be used, or move your vehicle to another repairer. The insurer has the right to move your vehicle to a safe storage place without asking you. If the insurer chooses, they may arrange for the repairer to use suitable parts and accessories that are made by a company other
than the manufacturer of your vehicle."

My Harley was written off by :4th Dimension assessors - the process was smooth, good comms and I was happy with the settlement- I was offered the bike back for a very respectful price I refused.

It sold later on eBay via their outlet for a decent sum.

I wonder if the old snotter is back on the road

You do not have to use them to repair the bike - they are perfectly ok at doing all the admin. I had no issues at all with 4th Dimension, in fact they were very good and handled my issue politely and professionally.

It has been posted on a number of occasions ( over a number of threads ) that an insurance broker /company cannot force you to use 4th Dimension , if you have a non blameworthy accident my first port of call would always be to contact the offending vehicles insurer and deal with them directly rather than both you and them getting shafted by 4th Dimension claims handling and subsequently 4th Dimension repairs .
In the past I have had it noted on my insurance file that I will not have any dealings with 4th Dimension and will not under any circumstances authorise them either getting their hands on my property or dealing with any claim . Currently with CN and made them aware of this both verbally and in writing and was still given cover.
Claims handling firms are becoming a f*cking nightmare , a couple of years ago my brother in law had his car written off in a non blameworthy (he was waiting to turn right and a driver who was not concentrating ran into the back of his car ). The claims handling firm rang him up at least once a day for over a week to try to force him to take a loan car , he did not want one as they have another car and he was working offshore and only back for 2 weeks in every 4 . There were even veiled threats that if he did not take a loan car it "might" delay his claim being processed.
In the end he told them that the calls were being recorded and blocked their number .
Claim was processed within 2 weeks of him blocking their number and telling them to contact him in the future via E Mail only

Whereas my brother who got entangled with them re a claim on his 1190R would go to his grave swearing they were absolute cùnts who should be avoided with the longest of barge poles!

Was the bike repired by 4th dimension?

Im not arguing with you, as you seem a bit simple. That information was not in the the thread your smart arse post mentioned. It was in a useful post, obviously not by you.
