Plans keep changing but, with our trip to Ulan Bator made more difficult by Covid then Putin we thought about Georgia this year but for various reasons we need to be here for much of the summer. So, now it’s Morocco in November, still in the Hilux.

I imagine we will drop into Fes and Marrakech then try and meander around the back country, wild camping when suitable. I’m not going to try and find hard technical routes, more looking for fairly remote tracks and places. I’ve been twice before - on the way south through Africa then a few months later on the way back north in 1996. Overdue for a revisit.

If anyone has a brilliant route that they rode/drove then very happy to hear about it.

Fes, Marrakesh and Casablanca are all heaving with tourists, traffic and touts.

While heading South we always stay in the Ibis in Meknes for our first night in Morocco. Gives you a gentle intro to Morocco life.
Be sure to stop and have a wonder around the ancient Roman site at Volubilis just before Meknes.

Tangier Med is the best place to cross.
Insurance, phone SIMM and cash can all be obtained at the port.

Crossing to Ceuta then driving down the road to the border at Fnideq can be a nightmare.
Yeah...you didn’t tell me that did you.😂 I was in full battle station readiness going over that border. 😂😂 No rufty tufty 4x4 protecting us either. Although I did have Sally on the back, who I’d have thrown at the hoards.

This was the friendly wave from one of the locals last time I was queuing for the border at Fnideq. He didn't know there was a camera so he wasn't acting up for that :D

https://www.dangerousroads.org/africa/morocco/7906-tizi-n-talougout.html is between Boulmane Dades to Nkob is asphalted and was the most stunning road on my recent Morocco trip.

Not far behind was going from south from Agoudal over the P7104 and into the Todra gorge. The Turtles Back and THE hairpins aren't far from where the P7104 leaves the upper Dades gorge.

Day 2 Meknes - Merzouga
The area around Merzouga is a national park so technically wild camping is banned but I have never been questioned there. As always, leave it as you find it and all should be okay.
Climb up one of the dunes there and watch the sun go down.

Again the attached route should resemble the image.
