5 Days to Rep Ireland - June from Lancs Ideas

Was there last year. Took the bus. Dublin was worth a couple of nights. We really enjoyed it Guinness, whiskey ect.
Rented a car headed for Gallway. Stayed an a wee place Clled the black cat near the water. Had a nice dining room and good food. Fund a nice cafe for breakfast. It's a seaside place. Nice.
Flip a coin head north or tails south. Tails we went South. To Dingle. I Thought Harris was barren until we went along the coast. Beautiful scenery
great road. We Stopped and Looked at the Arran Islands. Not enough time I guess we will have to go back.
I was to cheep to pay to see the Cliffs of ?. We seen cliffs further north so we kept going.
Dingle and Dingle peninsula was exceptionally nice busy lots of tourists.
Lots more free Cliffs
We drove round Dingle and headed for Tipperary because it was a long way. It was nice then back to Dublin returned car and got bus back to Belfast.

I wouldn't leave a bike on the street in Dublin.

IMO Dublin is not a safe city, lots of tourists get battered in Dublin / Temple bar

My advice is get west and stay west/south.

Get on the WAW

Really? I was thinking about a long weekend in Dublin with the Missus......
I'd be in Dublin a couple of times a year and have yet to be battered.......let alone sprinkled with salt and lightly fried......that said as proposed above go west young man. (Is Landmark John an agent provocateur for the Galway tourist board?) Galway is a lovely city to be fair and well worth a visit. I had a (now sadly deceased) uncle that lived in Salthill so I've been in the city many times.

I'm probably exaggerating but as I get older I wouldn't like to be wandering about after 23:00. A quick google suggests to clear Temple Bar by 21:00.
I survived twice on my own.
Ah yeah but you look more like a mugger than a muggee Doc ;)

I go to Ireland / Dublin a lot and am proud to say that I have never been to Temple Bar. To me, it looks a lot like parts of London - set up to relieve stupid tourists of their cash, when there are far better pubs within spitting distance that don't extract the urine.

It is like London (or any City). Avoid the sh1tty areas and you will be fine. Spent a great weekend in Dublin last year (apart from the rugby - Quins got hammered by Ireland, sorry Leinster). Myself, Wapping of this Parish, Mrs ChasMill and our boy plus another reprobate. We had some local knowledge (Mrs ChasMill is a native)

We got battered but only in the appropriate sense at Doheny & Nesbits etc ...

Like any big city there's a chance of coming across a bad egg or two. But we certainly don't have enough bad eggs to batter every English visitor, never mind every visitor, that comes to Dublin. Temple Bar is a sh1thole, plagued by hen & stag parties & lager louts. Best avoided IMHO. But the likes of Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral & the Guinness Store House remain popular & safe. That said I'd prefer to be out west on my bike....

OK. So maybe a new thread but what to do in Dublin for a couple of older farts who are not big party people but enjoy food and seeing new things....and i love a drop of the black stuff if well prepared......
.....asking for a mate..... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
