Beats me why we all dont fill up on the coldest days,live where its flat and not ride at all then the mpg eould be staggering,have to say tho i do an average of mine as it does relate to how the Pz wagon is running

I work out my fuel consumption on every tank of fuel I use.
The reason I do this is over the years It proves an excellent early warning of something a mis. If say on a brisk A road tankful I would expect to get 50mpg and I find it is 42 then that needs investigating.
What I have found is that my 05 Gs with a full BOS system (no cat), K&N and a Wunderlich power controller configured to the recommended settings for this set up I get 42mpg at worst (going bonkers) and 51mpg riding like a saint.
This is consistently 6 or 7 mpg worse than my travelling companion on his Tiger 1050 riding exactly the same. Which is a little disappointing TBH.
My 09 GSA was slightly better than his Tiger. The extra 50,000 miles and performance aids take their toll.

Just returned from a short trip upto Scotland two up full of luggage riding at an average speed of 55 - 65mph, 900 mile round trip showing on the computer ave 56.4 mpg is it a true reading? spent approx £90.00 0n fuel.
You tell us whether it's a true reading or not. It's easy. Here's how:
You spent £90 on fuel.
You covered 900 miles.
Fuel in the UK is sold in litres. Work out how many litres of fuel ninety pounds equates to.
You will then know how many litres it took to ride 900 miles.
Convert the litres figure into gallons.
You will then know how many gallons it took to ride 900 miles.
Convert the last bit of knowledge into miles per single gallon.
You will then know your average MPG from your short trip to Scotland.
Now, is your bike's computer based MPG figure accurate or not?
Repeat process at leisure.

It's a bit early but here goes based on approx cost at £1.41 per ltr
i used 63.82ltrs (14 gallons) i travelled 900 miles which would be about 64mpg however i still have some fuel left approx half a tank 117 miles if my computers right.
So based on my calculations it, only a guide but am i right,
and why did i mention it

If you managed 63 mpg you need to dump the GS and but one of these

Around 10 miles per litre every time. 45.4 MPG
Sometimes up to 50 if pootling on single track roads like last week.
And I do know what the rev limiter feels like. On or off a track session. So sometimes a bit less.

The only problem I have with the gs is the stinking fuel gauge, I would not trust it full stop. If you happen to be crazy enough to not fill the tank to the brim it is effectively useless for the next 30 miles while it calculates algorithms and decides that you haven't actually filled the tank to the top! I work on basics, if I have filled a 33 litre tank to the top then I won't have to worry for at least 270 miles regardless of the riding style. I have sat on the A1 and watched the range go from 170 up to 317 miles but by that time I have covered 30 miles. At the moment I am trusting my instincts and the low fuel light, by my reckonings 46 mpg is the norm (late GSA with luggage). Good luck and just enjoy the bike.

Just ride it, enjoy it and fill it up just before its empty, its not oil science
