My suggestion for day 4 would be to go east from la chatre to saint amand montrand and from there go north to sancerre, picking up your original route at gien. You will get better roads and views going that way. Sancerre is a great place to stop for a meal en route too. Try to avoid the major roads as they tend to be straight and featureless. I live near Bourges so these are my local roads.

the Caen port at Ouistreham is not in the zone itself, the zone boundary is the Caen ring road.
