This has to be the best bike i've ever owned for all round greatness!! Swapping over from a 990 Adventure, the GS felt a bit clinical to begin with, but thats all gone now and i love the character of the bike. I tried an S1000XR on the weekend and i much prefer the GS. My mates give me a lot of stick about the old man status of a GS, but the water-cooled model is something else. 125bhp and 125nm torque means I'm always hanging with them on fast ride outs (to their surprise) and being able to turn the TC on/off on the fly means you can have some fun with it too!! It does get a bit un settled when hammering it hard, but it cant be perfect at everything
Ive got a knackered left leg, so use a Kliktronic shifter for the gears, which works great but not quite strong enough to make the GSAP work, so i use the clutch as normal. The keyless ignition has its perks, but its pretty unnecessary.
I just got my 6k service (at 6992 miles....oops) and I'm ready for a blast in the Lakes this weekend. Strangely, not a thing has gone wrong with this bike until a few days before the service, where they gave me a new left hand switch gear, due to a faulty cruise control switch and a new right fog light, due to a faulty unit.
The addition of the PR4's has given it a shed load of grip in the wet, and it handles pretty well in the dry too. I've had a bit of a play with it and done the following
Mivv Headers
Leo Vince carbon silencer
ADV foot pegs
Touratech engine bars
tinted screen
wrapped the tank white
Rally seat
small No. plate
Overall, i love it. It works perfectly and as well as commuting up and down the A3 into London every day, i can do things like I'm doing tomorrow. leaving London at 3pm and fucking off up north to ride around the lake district with some mates... Perfect !
