I paid something similar at Rainbow, although mine was 6000 mile plus annual combined. They did quote me cheaper so it was a bit of a shock, but the price they quoted didn't include VAT :blast

Sounds like you were due the 1 year annual at the same time which would be gearbox oil change & brake fluid as well.
Take off the price of the engine oil (its about 15 quid a litre) and you've had nearly 5 litres (cos they won't give you the top up litre for nothing) and you'll find its about right.
Try calling a gas engineer or other tradesman & compare they're hourly rates.
Makes bike servicing cheap::rolleyes:

For 12K+ Annual I phoned 3 dealers and got prices from £225 to in excess of £400 - shop around.

If the bike has done 6000 miles in the first year why does it need the gearbox oil changing at this service? It used to be every 24000 miles or two years if memory serves me correct. With the brake fluid, after the first brake fluid change at a year old is it every two years after that?

I use the bike for work, I'm a service engineer for paper converting machines.
Based in Nottingham I have the following trips booked this year;
3 x to Sweden, Malmo,
8x to Belfast,
6 x to Launceston Cornwall
6x Bristol
6x Bedford$
4x Edinburgh
I also get the extra callouts to various places around the UK.
I follow the BMW service sheets in the manual.
Ido the 12 mth service now and again but it's a bit pointless.
Until last year I rode April - October on the GS and Nov to March on a 1100pan Euro as it had ABS TRC and slightly better weather protection.
Servicing the pan is provind expensive as when layed up it all siezes up again desapite ACF 50 and plenty of water.
So now the Gs is a bit older and has 52 k on it it's dooing the whole year now.

In my spare time I write funny articals about Dark Side tyres.

I know Bob but they like to move the goalposts every so often to keep everyone on their toes.
That's been the schedule for a while. Gearbox & brake fluid intially after 1 yr then every 2yr (or 24k for the gear oil).Rear axle is every 2yr or 12k.
Hope that clears it up for you.
