6000 mile service

This does not make sense.
May be the dealer meant that the next sevice still would be performed at 12K, so if You did it at 4,5K, the gap would be 7,5K to next service.
But that is not what most people do, or even think of. If you do service at 4K, next service due would be at 10K, and it should not have any effect on the warranty.

If Your dealer is so (excuse my French) stupid, then I would regard them not trustworthy to perform a proper service. Suggest you take Your bike to a place where they demonstrate some common sense.

Totally agree as I had previously said!

Just to let you know, I contacted the dealer, and they said 4500-5000 would be the lowest allowed to be ok with warranty!

Absolute rubbish. Ask them to explain exactly how this affects the warranty, because it doesn’t, as long as the period between this service and the next doesn’t massively exceed the recommended service period then there is no issue. In fact most dealers and manufacturers don’t have an issue with warranties as long as the period isn’t massively exceeded, therefore if the first is at 4000 and the next at 12000 it isn’t an issue.

As for the service manager being in the know, this isn’t always the case some service managers are not technicians, I had a similar experience with my local Triumph dealer, service manager talking bollocks, spoke to senior technician, he put the service manager straight.

Think you may have read it wrong, I didn't say it affects the warranty, I said "To be ok with the warranty"

I’ve just phoned up to book in a service, ‘that will be mid Sept now sir’ bike will have done well over 6k by then, I asked about impact on warranty, ‘not a problem’ here’s hoping.....
