600mile service cost...

Unfortunately I don't think I'm likely to be able to comment on that much for now as the bikes being picked up tomorrow as it started smoking earlier.....

Rode it home fine, left it while I did some work then decided to give it a rinse off due to the salt, rinsed it, blow dried it (yes I'm one of those....) and then started it and noticed a whining noise, couldn't quite place it, then noticed smoke from the LHS cover, turned the bike off and the starter was just cranking all on it's own even though the bike was switched off. Panic mode set in and I managed to disconnect the battery terminals. Rang the dealer as obviously fitting the tracker required a wiring loom extension and I also reported a starting issue to them so they had the battery out etc and ran some tests and also charged the battery for me etc. They are coming to collect it tomorrow.

Took the LHS cover off and I have no idea what this module is but all the black "stuff" has melted......

For those that don’t know, that’s the starter relay, which there happens to be a recall for on this bike, but allegedly it was done at BMW UK on entry to the country……allegedly
Fuck me thats not good ,I'm regretting ordering one each time I hear shit like this!

This was being spoken about in November, possible misfitting on the production line, there was a date noted where after that date (about 6th nov) the production line was sorted and prior to that those in the central warehouse in UK would be modded. Mine was in the dealers 29th November, think I'll take the cover off tomorrow and take a look.

Mine was built on the 11th November but I was definitely told it needed the recall and would be done by BMW UK. We shall see what the dealer says. It’s snowing here now so perhaps they’ll cancel collecting it from me.

Any update on your GS: cause, remedy and some recompense?
Mine’s on order for March delivery, so a bit worrying.
Hope you’re back on the road very soon.

Looks incredibly similar! Don't suppose you havew the link to the Facebook post itself do you?
Seems like your GS got through the safety net . Not great. Glad you’re ok, it could have been a hell of a lot worse. Tesla as another post said earlier.

I did, same price.

At the end of the day I ain't got a choice, so I'll pay it and shut up, I was just a little taken aback is all haha
Beats me why anyone pays for a 1st service - its an absolute must to get it added on as part of the deal, and the 2nd if you can haggle that far

For what it's worth, on my 1250 I have been quoted £176 and change for the 1st service at Vertu Rotherham, might be worth a call to them or the Shipley branch.
I can't see them charging an extra £95 for 1 extra litre of oil.
I bought my 1300 off them and was quoted £260 for first service apparently they charge £120 an hour now bet the mechanic gets about £15 per hour if hes lucky.

I don't get where this paying for the first service comes from. I've had lads of new bikes over the years and don't ever remember paying for anything other than consumables at first service. My GSA first service cost me about £80 at Barrie Robson York.

As somebody who’s running a business, my overheads are higher than what I take home and I work on my own, Just saying.
