i am picking my 2003 Dakar up on Sunday and plan on doing all my own servicing etc.

as i don't have a BMW Stealer close to me can any one recommend somewhere on line i can get all the service parts for the 650 Dakar the cheaper the better

cheers

PS i will be doing the 12,000 mile service

BMW dealer service item prices for the 650 are cheap anyway.
Phone Williams in Mcr, they'll post them to you.

Good luck Wilo, I hope you have as much fun with your's as I've had with mine the last few months, it really is a :D

Just done my first complete service...it's a bit of a pain!

Lot's of screws and bit's you have to move out of the way (I had already learned about some of these things) ...it's not as straight forward as with a Jap bike...took me about 4 hours total...plugs (not easy to get at and would hate to have to do it the side of the road or halfway up a mountain!), oil (messy and be careful...use exactly 2.3L), oil filter (the rear shock reservoir makes this bit of a pain), recharged air filter again...but I've also fitted a new speedo sensor and sorting my breather pipe issue aswell, so took me a bit longer)...count on a few hours tho :rob

Still got to do fork seals and change rear tire (prob tomorrow) and the Dak will be ready for our first outing on the Continent next weekend (or at least will be after Val's Panniers arrive...Monday hopefully) ...can't wait...I see your close by...we should hook up to compare 650's sometime :P

I do have a new issue with the bike tho...see my new thead "When should the fan kick in?"...the honeymoon IS over :thedummy
