Hi guys, looking for opinions on the above. I use in ear monitors so yes I will notice the difference. I currently use my phone for both music playback and gps and although it works very well its a bit of a faf plugging and unplugging it all in. So I thought I would look at proper bike gps stuff again. I have no doubt about the 660 for gps but it's storage for music seems lacking at 8GB but if it works well for music I could live with it.

music thru my 660, the 8GB card on mine is just over half full and that gives me 1400 MP3 songs to listen to. It is only mono but the quality is quite good IMO. I use bluetooth to my helmet, so may be better with the ear mnonitors.

:D

Thanks for the reply. You must have your mp3's highly compressed to get that many in that space.
Can anybody else comments on the mono part? That would be a deal breaker for sure.

See the bit under 'Stay Entertained' on the page for the Zumo 660 on the Garmin website. Definitely says Stereo and A2DP. With the Zumo 550 the MP3 player is Stereo but lacking A2DP it's mono via Bluetooth, you need to hard-wire the audio to get stereo.

Any Bluetooth headset that you use will need stereo and A2DP capability to provide stereo audio. I think that's where Mick_rw is getting mono it's down to his headset, not the Zumo.

I run a Nuvi 765T which has fairly similar internals to the Zumo 660. However, despite having twin Bluetooth the bridge between them is knobbled in the firmware so Bluetooth phone isn't an option to a headset or Bluetooth dongle. The headset Bluetooth profile is A2DP though. Having said that I run mine, hard-wired, though my Autocom.

I used a zumo but now have a scala rider, it's a amazing piece of kit and way better than the zumo for music, add on FM intercom etc and it's the best money I've spent for years :)

Not compressed, have just done a scan looking for *.mp3 and it shows 1161 MP3 files, but straight scan shows 89 directories and 1408 files using 4.39GB. Each directory is a folder of a group with a sub folder of the CD then the songs.

I use my CD's to convert to MP3 for the 8GB card. Not sure if that compreses them...but gives me loads to listen to.....:D

Just had a look at the manual for the Bluetooth and it says "Stereo music playback"

:D

Is that the manual for the Zumo 660 or the System 6? The 660 is stereo Bluetooth A2DP - I don't know about the System 6.

I'm interested to hear anyone's view on the audio quality of the Zumo 660 when sent via stereo Bluetooth - ideally a Scala G4. I have a 550 with the G4 and would upgrade to the 660 if the A2DP was decent quality and volume.

Thats from the BMW Bluetooth Communication Systems pdf file from BMW.....:D

The Bluetooth manual states

Bluetooth Protocols: Headset, handsfree, A2DP, SPP

I would ask you then what you think of the audio quality Zumo 660 to System 6 Comms system but not a lot of point if you are deaf in one ear.:blast

Beemerman 59,Both Andrew D and my self have 660`s,if you are coming to the workshop on the 3rd i will bring mine and you can try pairing your headset with it.For my puposes it`s hard wired through the Starcom.

thanks again guys. Ok still waiting on MP3 playback quality. Again this will be hard wired to my starcom and in ear monitors from there. Anybody else have a similar setup that can comment?

My 660 is stereo- hard wired to auto com.
Don't know number of songs- hundreds and hundreds.
If that's not enough get some extra cards- they cost about fourpence these days.
