Ah Great
Let us know if you got things fixed after the reset

Did you know if you are ever on the road and you want to do a reset and save all your files on the zumo all you have to do is

With the power off hold the power button for 10 seconds. You will get a reset but not lose any info on the Zumo. Use this when you have a freeze or shutdown and need to get the Zumo running again to finish your route.
This also avoids having to pull the battery.

Anything like that for the 550?

Yes you can reset the 550 the same way.
Also want to see something neat. Push on your compass for 7 seconds. Should show all your shutdowns. Touch the center pop up to get the date field and time of your errors

Push on your satellite strength meter for 5 seconds to see the satellites you recieve (660 also)

Ta :) knew about the hard reset. Best get back to 660 information :augie

Just been to dartmoor and back. 4 shutdowns and all needing battery removal to get it working again. Latest maps as well.
Piece of junk!!
Gonna downgrade to 3.5.....again....
No point in calling garmin as they will say it is my fault or no idea if it will be fixed in the next firmware and no idea when it will be released.
I am really starting to hate my zumo.
When it was working it took me in a complete circle on dartmoor FFS.
My tom-tom never behaved this badly.

On recent trip to eastern europe my 3.9 satnav performed faultlessly apart from one shut down which just needed a press on the on/off button to fix.

Since then garmin have replaced it due to an unrelated hardware fault and the new one has v 4.0 software which is not released yet. Again works perfectly.

I wonder whether Garmin have various revisions of hardware - as happens with most electronic devices - and 3.9 has a problem with some of them.

That's exactly why they gave ne a BNIB replacement unit. But even my new unit shuts down.

Did an OS update at the weekend to 3.9. Unit had been performing faultlessly, beffore the update, but today had 2 shutdowns, both after about 45 min. Both fixable by removing the battery (when stopped) but annoying. I was using the canbus powered bike mount.

Have just done a factory reset. Let's see if it fixes it...

The factory reset is very important after a update. Let us know if that fixes it.

That has never ever fixed any problems I have had, if it was so important why doesn't the Garmin updater do the reset as part of the upgrade....? because Garmin don't do joined up thinking....

You may be able to tell that I have a huge downer on Garmin due to all the bugs in their software, major bugs, not little niggles but things like shutting down and needing a battery pull to get it working again, missing turn icons to name a few.
For the amount of money these things cost I expect them to work, I can live with small issues but right now they are really getting on my nerves.....
If there was another satnav, not TomTom, I would jump ship without a thought.

Yup. Seemed to fix the random shutting off. Sorry for the delayed reply, just used it for a week in Crete, and the unit behaved impeccably.

Traffic in Chania city though:eek:
