690 rally raid tank protectors

Decided today to make some tank protectors for the front of my tanks as the corners are a bit vulnerable when dropping the bike.

Started off with some kydex plastic.

Now... This stuff is fantastic as you put it in the oven on a baking tray for a few minutes and it goes all floppy..

Once out you can mould it to a rough shape aroung the tank.

Yes.. I know at this stage it looks like shit:P, but with a hot air blower gently warm it up again in the places where it has not moulded properly and push it into place with you steel fingers:eek: as it's Fu@@in hot.

Cut off any excess and drill a couple of holes for mounting points.

Little bit fiddly to mould but i think the end result looks ok:D

Now I could do with a set of them for mine, where did you get the plastic from?
