Does anyone else have the annoying problem that the fuel range meter always reads 76 miles or less??

My fuels light came on last week and I put 18Lts in and the guage (after thinking about it for a while) put 2 bars on and the range computer said 76 miles. Rode the bike for just over 100 miles and nothing changed. Stopped and put another 18Lts in (that now 38Lts for 100 miles) and now it says......................
Yep 2 bars and 76 miles remaining :blast.

I ran it until the bars dropped to none and range said 15 miles (so I proved to myself it is not stuck on that reading) threw 20Lts in and hey presto 2 bars and 76 miles before i run out.:nenau

This is on a 08 GSA that had been fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Reads like the sensor strip in the tank isn't reading above 76 miles, I had a similar problem until I put some fuel injector cleaner into my tank. I think it dissolved whatever gunk had built up on the sensing strip :)

Yup - sounds like sensor strip then recalibration at your dealer.

Under warranty I hope......

mine does the same,a quick wheelie seems to give it a nudge, fuel guages are piss poor

Thanks for this useful thread. I have a variation on the theme (9 month old 1200 GS with 5,100 miles on the clock). I had the fuel warning light on, two bars illuminated and the range showing 30 some miles. I filled up to the brim and there was the usual delay whilst nothing changed. I would have expected all the bars to light up and the range to go up to 200+ within a few yards of the petrol station. Instead, it took about 20 miles for the bars to light up one at a time and at no point did the indicated range climb – so I got to the point of all the bars lit, but only 30 some miles on the range. The bars then gradually went out as the fuel got used.

Having burnt most that tank of fuel, I filled up before the low fuel warning was due to come on and everything worked as per the book for that and the subsequent 5 or 6 tank fulls.

I shall mention it to Pidcocks when it goes in for its first annual service next month.
