800GS 2014, alarm key fob does nothing

Just got 2014 800GS with factory alarm fitted, came with 2 key fobs. Alarm works with key fine ie activates and deactivates fine. I have the alarm manual too and have read it. I wanted to change the alarm setting so that the alarm did not auto activate when key taken out. To do this you need to press fob buttons as instructed. I press, the fob led lights up, but no ack from the alarm/lights as manual says should happen, and settings don't change. Both fibs the same.
Anyone had something like this? Guess it could be batteries, although fob led lights up bright, or something daft I'm doing. I will go to dealer but thought I'd check here first. Thanks!

Afmuir, try running the engine for 30 seconds or so and then switch it off. Then try pressing the fob. IFRC the system goes to sleep a few minutes after the bike is turned off.

Worth a try, I thought my alarm on my 2010 GSA was goosed until I tried this.

I had exactly the same issue - couldn't program the remote like the manual said. In the end I had to get the dealer to do it. Don't know what they did differently from the manual but they got it to not auto activate when taking the key out.

got it sorted. First fob had failing battery even though led lit up fine, was not enough to work the alarm. Second fob worked but you need to really push the fob buttons firmly and for a length ie not a light click but a firm, held down long press. That sorted it!
