i am thinking of choping my 1150gs in for a new 800gs this year (sept) but after seeing all the problems with them i am now not so sure so all the help with my dilemma will be appreciated

it's a bit buzzy, could do with an overdrive.

All of the problems are well documented, and should have been sorted by now.
If you've got any life left in you, then you'll love the 800GS. This bike is definately for the 'young at heart'. I looked at both, and even though I was fast approaching 50, I just wasn't ready for an 1150.
The 800 is way better for everyday riding, lighter, quicker, more chuckable, and much better economy. It can also do the long distance stuff well. It's only real shortcomings are to do with the screen and seat, and both are easily fixed.
If you're rich (and can afford the fuel), and only ever do long distance trips, then the 1150 is probably better for you. If you live in the real world, with only one or two big trips a year, then the 800 is far better.
