On the way down we rode from Switzerland to Feldkirch and then over the Arlberg Pass to St Anton
From there it was down to Innsbruck and over the Brenner to the Sud Tirol
I know Kaprun having skied there but I was doing maintenance in Linz where my girlfriends family live and its a convenient stop on the return from the Balkans and the East in general.
Yes, playing around with a motorbike can be sweaty. But still...personally I'd never even start my bike for such a ride before donning a full protective suit. I'd rather rehydrate than suffer infected wounds from a fall or two.
Last time I rode unprotected and crashed, the wounds took two months to heal. That was way back in 1975. After that I suit up even for a ride to the shop a block away.

A common mistake among newbie gravel-tourers is the use of conventional touring apparel from tarmac-touring. When more physically demanding offroad- or more enthusiastic non-paved allroad manouvres are required these touring jackets and pants become sweaty and uncomfortable.
A nobrainer to shop some moto-cross style armour suit, a pair of moto-cross safety padded trousers and simply don waterproof or ventilated shell layers on top of that. That's the way the Dakar-participants and enduro & cross-folks do all over the world.
Proper ventilated shell-clothing on top of moto-cross-style body armour is the way to go. I use it all year and never look back towards clammy touring apparel. Wintertime? Just a matter of wooly layers, Gerbing heated vest/socks and solid Enduro outer shell with waterproofs on top.
