hi all,
i will be in need of a set of tyres in the near future ,
my bike only stays on the tarmac (unless i have a misshap )
will be looking for the stickiest as possible ?
any recommendations please,
there must be some rubber guru's out there.

Metzeler Tourance for me every time :thumb

Oh Micky! You and your Tourances...:kissy2

I've had several sets and they are a good all-round tyre, very capable on the road and not bad on mild off-road stuff like even-sized gravel. They do tend to follow imperfections in the road surface, particularly when they start to get worn.

More recently I have used Conti Trail Attacks and Pirelli Scorpion Trails. Both of these are a more road oriented tyre and would probably not be as good as the Tourances on loose surfaces, however they have excellent wet and dry grip on tarmac and turn in much more quickly than a Tourance, which (in my opinion) is a good thing on an 800GS. They are both smoother running and quieter than the Tourance and not so senstive to minor road imperfections.

My next tyres will be either the Contis or Pirellis, but I suppose it is a personal thing.:)

Absolutely :kissy2

..... and at 83,000 miles on my 1150 GS
59,000 miles on my 1150GSA
16,000 miles on my 1200GSA
54,000 miles on my F650GS-Dakar
74,500 miles on my F800GS

it's Tourance every mile/smile :pullface

But as you say, it's a personal thing ;)

I have used Conti Trail Attacks and Pirelli Scorpion Trails.

I've used both (Conti's and Pirelli's), plus the Bridgestones. The Conti's are in a league of their own (Sorry James). Excellent grip, wet or dry (I don't hang about). The Pirelli's are a close second (except they follow white lines). I've had Tourances on a previous bike. They're OK (no better, no worse), similar to the Bridgestones on road, but better off road.

I hope that helps.

Running a set of Pirelli Scorpion trails on mine, managed the stella without too much trouble and rather good road tyre

Might give the tourance a try next.

You might not get a reply - he's away riding in Portugal :D

I too have Tourance EXP's. They have more grip than i have ability or bottle and I could say that about probably every make of tyre :D
