After having a number of older gs's the most recent being a1200 adv, I find myself drawn towards the 800 model. But being propper tosser sized I fear the wee 800 may struggle. 6'4" 18st big boned and hardy handsome, will the 800 cope with an imminent trip to Romania from our emerald isle. Will I miss the presence of an 1150 or 1200 on the road. How about wind protection, handling with panniers etc? I've an option on buying a low mile 1150 adv. Has anyone made a move from an1150 to the 800?
Thanks in advance

Im 6ft tall and 18 stone, done nearly 9000 miles this year, no problem. If I was touring two up i would go for the 1200.

just my opinion

Info

Thanks for the info lads. I suppose the only thing is to take a test ride on one to see what's what.

I don't think the bike would struggle at all (unless you were doing the trip two-up with a *really* full load of luggage).

The F800 (in all its incarnations) is seriously underrated IMO. Only downsides are the chain drive (on GS and R versions) and the small tank (partially addressed with the Adventure version).
