Was considering an 80 gs ,, had 1100s and last bike was an 1150 anyone went down this road ? Just a bit worried it might be a bit slow or not handle as well as the 11s ,, this would be my main bike ,, thanks in advance

I went from an 1150GSA, added an 1100gs, then added a r80G/S, then a r80ST, then a r100GS, then another r80 ST, then a r80 road bike. I pretty much stopped driving the GSA a after acquiring the g/s... though if I was doing a road tour of europe I'd probably go on the GSA (if I hadn't have sold it). Why... at 6'3 I find the g/s a bit more cramped then the GSA although plans are hatched to recreate the size of my GSA on the r100. If nothing else, I find it more fun to drive the airheads... can't describe why but they just are.

I find the r80's have 'enough' power... but what feels like a suitable motorway cruising speed is much lower than it was on the GSA. Like others have said... I'd try one first... you are welcome to try mine if you are down debun' way. Send me a pm with your number if you want to ask a few more question... i'm available all day (just got told I need to remain in cast for another 3 weeks).

I have to agree after ending up with an R1200GS and an R90/6 in the shed at the same time, the R90/6 was always the ride of choice, even though logically less all round competent than the 1200. All I miss is the long distance ability of the 1200, but otherwise not much really. Keep thinking about an airhead GS to keep the 90 company......

The four Germans on R80's who stormed up the steep hairpins from Geiranger fjord Norway last week were definitely not slow:thumb2
