I once did 10 laps of the nordschleife in a 2 hour evening session.
Had to pull off for fuel after 5 at the halfway point though. That was satisfying.
Was totally knackered afterwards.
Managing an average of 60mph on any public roads ain't bad going.
My bike currently shows an average of just over 50. Not too bad condsidering all the jams I've got stuck in lately. And the number plate is still well bolted on.
What's more amazing is that I can do it on a bike that is technically pretty old, and a pretty knackered pilot (me) can finish a longish day, with a longish ride, at a good pace, and have a thoroughly good time doing it
pulled away from a fuel stop on the A4 in Sweden, bladder empty - 9 gallon aftermarket fuel tank full on my old 1150GS.
At indicated 80 on the fairly empty road I was suprised to see nearly 80 miles covered in the hour.
At 2 hours I had covered around 157 miles.
3 hour mark saw 241 and the 320 mile mark at 4 hours was spoilt by traffic in Stockholm ( and end of journey)
Wasn't trying and certainly never have done it since.
Yep, USA is great and it's easy to cover big distances in good time. On my trips, I use a 50mph average to calculate how long and it's usually very close. e.g, if we have a 500 mile day on the Alcan Hwy, this will take 10 hours including fuel, food stops etc and we tend to cruise between 65 and 70 mph.
