I have lurked around the forums looking to see if anything will answer this, to no avail.
Recently my low fuel warning light has started to glow. This is amazing, as it has never graced me with its presence before, and I rely on the bar gauge on the RID and the trip meter. I ran her to empty from a full tank and achieved 381km. That was mostly highway and a little around town running.
(236 miles (380km) / 5.5 imp gallons plastic tank = 42mpg)
I don't like looking at the consumption threads as a result, that said, I have not performed multiple tests on highway running alone to average out my results.
The fuel low light has been glowing faintly at odd ball times. When I have just filled up. When I start the bike in the morning and ride to work, regardless of fuel level. But NEVER to actually indicate that I have low fuel. I suspect this may just be an electrical issue, although have no idea.
My second to last tank full of gas was depleted in about 120kms. This has me very concerned. No leak as far as I can tell. Bike is locked away so not siphoned.
What contributes to excessive fuel consumption, other than aggressive riding style?
thanks
