is this the one?

I wouldn`t be put off by the miles if everything is OK with it. Many about with more miles on than this one....including mine. Whether it is worth that amount is a matter of opinion. They do seem to have increased over the last 12 months as people have realised they are the best model:D

That looks a lot of bike for that money. Mileage is reasonably high but no problem on this engine and a gearbox rebuild if it were knackered would be around £500 from Scrimiger. He did mine a few years ago:thumby:

If I had the cash laying around I would have no problem with that as a second bike.

1100GS

That would seem to be an extremely good buy, another one where if you had the original parts, put it back to standard and dip your bread. very tempting:blast:D

My '96 has just gone over 100k and all is well. Gearbox was done by a previous owner and I would think this one would be complaining by now if it hadn't had any attention.

At 100K it's just run in :beerjug:

Just with pre 97' 1100s you ought to check the gearbox if it's modded or not.

cheers lads for all replies.i,ve spoke to the owner who has no info on either gearbox or clutch, which sort of puts me off a bit.at the right price I,ll take it.its a buyers market out there for 1100/1150,s all going for about the two and half grand mark.with my past history of buying lemons I,m not gonna rush into another one.mind you it does look a beut.

No.. that happened 70,000 miles ago.

it may be due (overdue) a major service. including fuel filter. so factor that in. I would also want to check the clutch.

new bike forces sale - he says. it could be that he was looking at an up and coming £1000 + bill. which for many (who rely on dealership servicing) is more than enough reason to offload a bike.

I may be overly pessimistic. It could just as easily be fine. But eyes wide open on that one.

I'm sure I've seen that bike at least twice in the last 18 months on ebay? It looks like one that sold for about £1000 - £1200 in Derby, but it had alumimum panniers (covered in stickers from it's trips), a spare set of wheels and the original exhaust included in the sale. It then appeared again further North, but it doesn't look like it was this seller.

As others have said nice looking bike, but if the clutch hasn't been done yet you could be saddled with either a very large bill or a smaller bill with a weekend of swearing and cursing as you dismantle and reassemble the bike to change it yourself. (I did my own clutch, it wasn't too bad a job, but then I've been taking cars and bikes apart for years, and yes I swore on several occasions :D )
