That's a adventure model. Speculation but I'd say it's on 1 cylinder. It would be nice to know mileage and any history. It should be priced with internal engine work to pay for. JJH

Hi there it has 42 k on and full bmw history

Is it a dealer selling it. Or is it the current owner who might be able to shed some light on the problem? Everything on these engines is fixable at a price. But what are you being asked? Don't spend too much. JJH

Its a private sale it seems to tick over ok but over 2 k rpm it rattles

Let's see if someone else has any ideas. But I always ask why isn't he fixing it himself? Is there more than meets the eye or ear in this case. It really depends on price. JJH

Sorry, but that is knocking on tickover .... unless the guy wants £500 for it I would walk away and buy one that ain't knocking

I would give double for it a grand all day long then break it for spares if its something major.
