Bit of good news and better than nothing !!! Just had confirmation that I can get to the island for the senior TT on the 11th :JB– Getting the Heysham Boat arriving at Douglas abrout 6am – only coming as a foot passenger for the day as time is of the essence and lack of transport I want to get my plan right as normally I just potter aroung and stop randomly when I feel like it just before roads close

After a good breakfast (Suggestions welcome) want to get in place/ hedge for the Lap and race, can you recommend anywhere good that’s on a bus /tram/MEL route? I was thinking about going up to the bungalow or Crosby because of the sighting – but as the bike isn’t with me this year I’ll be taking advantage of a pint/tinny or two :beerjug: and not sure if you can partake at the bungalow there as I’ve never been

Depending on Roads open either the half five or quarter past 11 boat back to Liverpool.

your guidance is welcomed :thumb2

If you want a venue that sells beer, you'll need either the Grandstand, the Crosby, The Hawthorne, Glen Helen, Sulby Glen, Ginger Hall, Parliament Square or Creg ny Baa. If you got tinnies of course you could go anywhere.

Bus timetables are here

As far as I know, there are no beer sales at the Bungalow.

For Brekkie, The Caff and Mash are both open early. The Caff is five minutes walk from the boat and opens at 5.30am Mash is a little further but is Tosser recommended by JimBryant of this parish.

Hey Doc, good news matey!

I'll have a chat with you about meeting up on the 11th - I'm there 09th-12th.

:beerjug: :D

thanks Piebaps,

if you could score your beer dispensing venues what wold be your top 3. and do you know what street Mash is on ?

Should be easy this public transport lark !!!

oops, I forgot the Mitre in Kirk Michael and the Raven in Ballaugh.

You could camp at Sulby Claddagh and then you have a choice of either the high speed madness of the Sulby Glen or the left hander at the Ginger Hall.

Ramsey is a good choice too as there are two pubs on Parliament Square, plus the full range of the town eateries too. It would all depend on timing and accommodation. if you wanted to get an 11.00 boat home, then I would stay in the Douglas area - probably Creg ny Baa. There's a spectacular view plus the pub and a grandstand. It isn't on a bus route but a taxi shouldn't be too dear.

If you camped overnight, Sulby is free and details are here. http://www.gov.im/daff/hfg/other/Sulby.xml

There are a few camp sites around Douglas however and some even provide tents. I'm sure you'd be able to find a one nighter somewhere.

On Friday after the racing there's the Douglas prom entertainment including a face off between the Purple Helmets and the White Helmets plus simulated bombing runs from a Herc and an old Hawker Hunter. Plus live music burger etc etc.

Seems a shame to go home so soon:augie

That seems to be sorted then Doc:beerjug:

If you can get on that campsite then go for it. Governors Bridge and the Grandstand in easy walking distance and the excitement of downtown Douglas is within easy reach after the races.

What could possibly go wrong?:beer::beer::beer::jager:jager:jager:ymca!

Another couple of suggestions for spectating points near Douglas, would be Governor's Bridge (slowest point on the circuit & you see the racers twice as they go in & come back out of Governor's Dip) & Signpost Corner. Both have good refreshments, but you'll need to provide your own alcohol, & provide easy return to town/ferry. Be careful not to get stuck on the inside of the circuit, where you might not be able to get away until roads open ie Bungalow will not be open until much later than the rest of the circuit.
