I think I just found a new type of rattle sound coming from my G450x.
After a ride the other day, I parked in the driveway.

When I rolled the bike in to the garage (Engine off and in neutral) I could hear a knocking sound (a mix of clank/plonk :bounce1 ) coming from somewhere around the front sprocket/engine.

I lifted the rear wheel and when I spun the wheel forward I got the sound again, but only when rolling the wheel forward, rolling backwards everything sounded ok.

When the bike had cooled down the sound was gone!?

Chain sprockets in mint condition, so what could it be?

Hmmm

Have you changed to a smaller front or rear sprocket?? I know on certain combinations the chain catches on the guide under the front of the swing arm. You will only get this in one direction as the chain tension lifts it from the guide when you roll the wheel backwards. I would describe it more of a clicking noise......

A separate thing to check would be the needle roller bearing behind the front sprocket, if it has failed it would be noisier, you may also see oil seeping from there. To check it properly you would need to remove the swing arm which is not a big job, to fix it is a lot more involved..

Hope it's a simple fix!
