When buying a brand new GSA......

Card comes in the pack alongside all of the Adventure holidays they are trying to sell you

This is all that I had within the pack. If you read cover letter, there is no mention of a breakdown cover card.

There should be more than that

This was included with the documents at the time of collection. Inside is information about the bike and telephone numbers. I can see it being lost or getting grubby pretty fast when touring.

That's exactly what I had, and the card was loose in the envelope, rather than stuck to the letter. There's a good chance it was there, and you threw it away by mistake.

I seem to recall that there was nothing else in the envelope.

I got the same as you on my GSA , no silver card, or missed it if I did. to few honest hadn't given it a second thought. Can't we just google the phone numbers if we need them, I can do without another plastic card in my wallet.

There must be a reason why they issue them, it allows for verification of who's the owner (registered keeper), model code, frame number and date of first registration as well as necessary telephone numbers in an event of emergency.

You should have definetly got the silver card, if you didn't it does not mean it's not covered under warranty. If you get any issues locally just call the dealer ,or further afield cal the number you rang from the old card you have, they will only ask your reg number ,then they star the ball rolling to whatever the issue is.

Did you carry the card all the time with you ? It's not a requirement ,you only need the motoraad breakdown number.

Also got another V5 today for my 2017 GSA, incorrectly registered initially as Euro 3. However on comparing the two V5's, I cannot see any difference apart from the date of issue of the V5. Thought BMW UK would have contacted us owners initially to explain !!

Pick one or more from the following easy options:

1. Take a photo on your phone of the page with the pertinent numbers.
2. Add a contact to your phone and add the UK and Int'l numbers to it.
3. Upload the photo to an online storage service.
4. Write the numbers on a bit of paper and throw it in your wallet.
5. Duplicate and laminate the above piece of paper and store in several places on your bike for total "peace of mind".
6. Hand copies of the laminated paper to all your touring buddies and ask them to keep it safe and make sure it doesn't get grubby.

No unfortunately I haven't, but I did call emergency services once again this afternoon, was once again told to speak with my dealer, then was told, they cant issue me card even if they could, as it is not their department. Then was told that the card is no longer being issued, unless requested at the time of purchase. I said that I am struggling to believe that, because how many people just on this thread alone have bought new bike in the last 3 months and have received it? I know it is all of the information needed is out there (online) in case of emergency, but it is a principal thing that once bike got sold, no one cares about your little issues. What if I am abroad, feck knows where, and haven't got trusty 3G/4G network to google things up? Ok I can store an entire catalogue of numbers in my phone book, but yet again, I rather have a physical card that I can keep in my wallet. Call me old fashioned.......
