A case of the squeaks

I took my front wheel off of the 800 the other day to take it to the local motorbike shop to have a new tyre fitted, I followed the instructions on the BMW DVD, everything seems fine but I'm getting a lot of squeaking from the front brakes, the pads seem to be sitting flat but I'm getting a squeak at low speed.

Is this just a case of a slight position change for the brakes and they need a little time to settle back in or have I missed something?

Does the speedo drive go to the front wheel on the 800?

If it does, check it's correctly lined-up.

The same thing happened to me once. I had to loosen up the two fastening bolts on the right side then the right fork slipped a little bit further out and the caliper stopped touching the brake disk.
Hope this makes sense
 
Give them a good clean to remove and built up brake dust, then smear some copper grease on the BACK of the pads.

Kalli: I suspect you'd tightened the wheel spindle clamp bolts before you tightened the spindle bolt, causing the right leg to be drawn in as you did so?
 
Here's the deal chaps, there was one part of the instructions I did not understand (something about putting pressure on the right fork), also I did not have a giant hex key to hold the axle in place whilst I used a 17mm sockets to tighten the bolt.

To get around this I tightened the two clamp screws on the left hand side (as if looking at the front of the bike), then torqued the axle bolt up then tightened the right hand clamp screws. I'm guessing I've pulled the right fork in, and what I should do now is un-clamp both sides and let the forks settle back out again.

Would you say this is correct?

Yes kalli you're correct, I had forgotten to confirm I had agreed with your post.

I'm going to rip it all apart this evening to redo it all.
 
So I spent all day sorting out the bike out, after properly securing the front wheel (with the 19mm tool) and slapping a bit of copper grease on the back of the brake pads the squeaking has gone, I even did the rear brake too.

It was a piece of piss actually, just needed the right tools.
