I have just bought an 02 ADV (and still have my S for the while).

I have the original purchase invoice, on which it says,ABS 11 EVO (with 11 EVO crossed out and integral written in) the price of which was £638 + vat, but the bike has no ABS ring on the wheel & the seller told me it didn't have ABS.
What do you make of that?

Also it say's large fuel tank £212.
Is this larger than any other ADV or just larger than the GS?

I will be looking for the BMW alloy panniers & top box if anyone has any for sale.

Mike.

Luke,
There is no ABS button, so it looks like the previous owner must have paid for ABS but not got it.

Mike,

the Adv in the UK market came with a standard 22 litre tank. To buy the 31 litre option cost £250 (I'd guess that's £212 + VAT??). These days they come with the big tank as standard, I think. If you've got no ABS ring on the wheels (they should be on both), and no ABS switch, then you've not got ABS. The invoice is a bit confusing - maybe he took the ABS off for some reason??

Mike:)

ps Congratulations on buying a real motorbike :D - what colour?

pps You can do a lot better than the BMW Adv luggage, IMHO...

AFAIK, the big 31litre tank and engine bars became standard around October/November '03 production

Mike,
It is White Aluminium (silver).
Acording to original purchase invoice from Cannon 06.09.02.
H/grips @ £148.94 + vat
Large tank £212.77 +
Engine bars £165.96+
ABS £638.30+ but as I said, no ABS
Total £9560
Not including the BMW navigator (for which I have only the power cable fixed to the bike, and no software).
I paid £5200, and yes I had it HPI checked.
Mike.

Oh, and regarding the luggage, I just liked the look of Bilko's.
Most of the others look very well made but a bit box like.
I have followed you journal by the way.
