A couple of ownership questions

No it is not a bugger to get on the centre stand and you don't need a bloody battery charger if you ride bloody thing instead of looking at it! Man up!

Thank you for your opinion. You seem to have some difficulty discriminating between the differing levels of effort needed to place different GS variants on their centre stands. You would also appear to be unaware of the differences in people's situations. I see you are an "engineer". In my experience many engineers are on the autistic spectrum and that may be one possible explanation for your behaviour. Allow me to point you at the Aspie quiz which may help you on the road to understanding your social handicap......http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/autism.htm

It is and a lot of your cohorts also think it is harder to put on the centrestand, than the previous 1200GS (2007-2012)

So you're out voted :blast

I'll add a vote for Engineer. The WC is a piece of piss to get on the centre stand, even fully loaded.

:-)

Schtum,

I find getting onto the center stand on the WC harder than previous versions. I'm not sure if I simply haven't developed the knack, but it feels more cumbersome than earlier models where I didn;t even have to think about it. Before you'd started this thread I'd made a mental note it was not as easy as I remembered, and that's without it fully loaded with the kitchen sink.

BTW, how are you getting on with the bike? Still lovin' mine and now the crappy weather is here Sunday blasts are a hoot :).

I agree, some people seems to spend more time worrying about the extra 0.01 Newtons of force it takes to 'get it up' than riding the 'freekin' thing. If you can't be arsed to work out how to put a bloody bike on the centre-stand then leave it on the 'chuffin' side stand! :D

Rather than spend time posting on here (10,700!) go out into your garage and practice putting your bike its stand - you will soon get the hang of it.

'elf and safety' disclaimer: all advice is offered in good faith but if it all goes wrong it ain't my fault :D

P.S take a friend with you in case it all goes tits up and you need to call an ambulance.

Think that the CS is a little closer to the front on the latest toilet GS's than the old ones which means a little weight on the rear will lift up the front wheel. Therefore a little more effort required.

That said I am still not fully recovered from spinal surgery and can still get it on the CS without any issue :aidan

Please fuck off and work on becoming a better human being, there's a good chap. :thumb

The OP's initial question was a valid and reasonable question :thumb2

His question wasn't is the WC difficult to get onto it's centre stand, which it isn't,but is it more difficult to get on the centre stand than his previous TC? which in my experience it is.

It may seem trivial to some but to others it's pertinent.

I used to ride into my shed put the bike on it's side stand jump off get changed out of my bike gear take my boots off and put my slippers on.
Then I'd put my bike onto a bike mover on it's centre stand and move it to where I wanted it in the shed which is in front of the rail where I keep my bike gear, hence this is why I got changed first.

Whilst the WC is not difficult to get onto the centre stand with your boots on it's a different story in your slippers, the TC was easy even in my slippers,so now I put it on the CS before I take my boots off :thumb2

Now then where did I put my pipe :D

We all have our little ways, let people be.

Thank you very much, Sir...:thumb2 However, it stands to reason that since you're perceptive enough to understand the precise nature of the question, that you're also able to discern the different degrees of effort needed to pop different bikes up on their centre stands.

not difficult at all in my experience. hold the bike upright and steady whilst pushing down on centre stand with right foot and up she pops. no pulling. no heaving. no problem.

Have you had previous 1200's...?

" but is the WC a bit of a bugger to get up on the stand" was your question. i've answered it honestly. if you don't appreciate my answer, feel free to ignore it.

You don't have the information to make an informed comparison with the previous GSes. Next....!!! :rob

I have owned a 1150GS, a 2010 GS and now a 2014 WC - I'm 5 8 and (for what it's worth) have varied in weight from 12 stone to 13st 8 at various points in ownership (currently 12 stone 3) and have never had an issue getting the bikes onto a centre stand. The 2014 may be slightly more difficult that the 2010 but I'm not sure I'd have noticed it had you not mentioned it.

Well I'm on my 3rd GS, a 2006, a 2009 and now a WC and I know that this is significantly more difficult to get on the centre stand than its predecessors.

I am 5'7" and just under 11 stone with a slightly dodgy knee and back. My downward pressure on the stands foot is nowhere near enough to lift the bike onto the stand. I need significant heft on the rear grabrail to get the bugger airbourne!

I'm still loving it though, phenominal bike
