I am currently looking at buying a TomTom urban rider pro v3 and I have a couple of questions.
A couple of years ago I had a Garmin 2610 unit so I'm a little familiar with mapsource and using it for planning my routes, so I was wondering how do you route plan with the TomTom and can it be used in conjunction with an Apple Mac G5.
As I ride a Super Tenere which has an auxiliary socket on the dash can you purchase a waterproof plug so as to plug in the TomTom which will elevate the need to hard wire the unit to the bike.
Thanks for your patience if these appear numpty questions.

I use TYRE which you import into the Tomtom
You can trim out a bit out of the standard V3 mount allowing the access door to remain open and plug in a charger I used a car charger plug and relied on the battery when it was raining. TBH it was a PITA I should have just bought the charging mount as it was always feckin raining when I used it!!!!!

Thanks for the info "mcinlb"and "Frequentflyer" :thumb

I've also read some of the feedback comments on the Halfords website which complain about problems with the supplied scala headset not charging.

Dave56 I use an old Tomtom Bluetooth that was supplied with a V1 TT- might be worth just looking on ebay for something similar.

Tourstart - plan motorcycle route

I use www.tourstart.org where you can plan and share routes online with all motorcyclists and transfer the route your TomTom. However, should some Garmin or Navigon user like the route (if made public) then they can download as well. Tourstart is free to use.

TYRE is amazing, there is also a google maps tool called houghi which I haven't used in a long while as TYRE is perfect.

People forget the TomTom tool on the device for editing itineraries is pretty good too, I frequently use that for less complicated journey planning and use the tool for very large itineraries.

I have an original TomTom Rider. Also a Garmin 76 & 2100. The 76 was crushed, my fault, rang Garmin, less than £80 flat fee fix. TomTom Rider last month got a standard 'update' and it is now u/s. Rang TomTom, the support offered was 'that is really old you need to buy a new one'. 'We don't support that product anymore'. When I asked why they were updating a product they 'dont support' they told me my only option was to 'talk to sales' because they couldn't sell me a new one.

Needless to say I wont be buying TomTom again.

which unit did you buy?

basically its easy to fix, you need to make a full backup, then delete all the files not in a folder, then go back to HOME and press update, it will jump back to life again. PM me if you need more advice.
