aye give us both a shout and we'll show you some gud 'uns and not just the TT course
:ronno

Yup I have and yeah I love it :)

Bit scared of frying the clutch as I'm used to a jap rever with wet clutch.

Just keep bobing along haha.

Like Panzer said just shout and the party wagon can be firdd up

Howdy All,

Well a quick update after a weekend of ownership.

WHAT A MACHINE! Comfortable, powerfull and tall. It makes a real change on the roads I know so well to be able to see over the hedges lol.

This morning me and Panzer went down a few trails and a play in the sand dunes...Now I like the thing even more, though big nobbly tires would make the dunes much easier....In up to the axles eh Panzer hehe.

Still got a lot of learning to do on ridine the thing but loving it.....

A good move :beerjug:

Sounds familiar! I've done 350 miles to the Welsh coast and back this weekend. 1070 on the clock now, I'm enjoying the bike enormously and it still hasn't broken down!! :thumb

I still miss my old Viffer a bit, though.

Hi Alex,
Like you - I have not long traded my Honda of 5 years (CB1300) for a GS1200! In the time I owned the CB, she also never missed a beat, was an excellent allrounder, still had the original chain & sprocket and pads in after 20k.

Q. Why did Hugh Grant decide reject the advances of the highly knobbable Liz Hurley - and prefer to throw a lump up some piece of dirt in an LA shitehole?

A. He was bored and fancied a change!

Honda's are brilliant machines with great build quality and amazing reliability, but the downside is they are as dull as ditchwater. And eventually I got bored & fancied a change.

No problems so far, and simply love the bike! As far as build quality & reliability goes - you are not going to top the big "H" so no point comparing Honda to any other manufacturer.

If I find myself emptying my wallet onto the Motorrad counter every week, it will be back to Jap bikes for me?

I'm sure a lot of critisism on this forum is justified, and some of the issues need sorting - but god can't some of them moan about nothing?

So untill it packs up & makes this lots day - enjoy your GS.

well ive done it

:claphi...just ordered my gsa from rainbow.....after looking and wondering if it will go wrong....but sod it.... you got to go and buy and think positive.....great bike in my opinion....pick it up next week......

Hi All,

I am seeking advice.

I have a VFR800 vtec, 2008, 11500 miles....right

I have come across an R1200GS, 22000 miles with full luggage, on computer etc.

I am very very tempted as I am sure the 1200 will do everything the vfr will plus a bit of off road, which is something I hanker for.

The money is right so the purchase could easily be made however....

NO WARRANTY on the 1200... How reliable are they? the vfr has never missed a beat and i use it every day...can I expect the same from a 1200?

Cheers All.

Alex.

I had a VTEC for 5 yrs and loved it, only did 17k in 5 years tho as opposed to 24k in 2 years on a GS12. Theres just something about the GS that makes it even more fun in all weather & road conditions. Enjoy :-)

Money; money, money!

"...If I find myself emptying my wallet onto the Motorrad counter every week,..." well you may becuse you will discover all the options and extras that you caanot possibly do without!"

HAHA love the Hugh Grant theory...sooo true.

So far the only thing I miss about the vfr is it's, IMO, sexy looks :)

I have just PXed my 2005 GS. It broke down in Germany but BMW Rescue fixed it in double quick time, the ring antenna left me stuck in the driveway until the dealer's truck took it away and when I PXed it the dealer noted the final drive and gearbox were both leaking.

So what have I bought? A GSA of course. The old GS has been around Europe twice including some of the new Estern block countries. It's been all over UK, I have thrown it down the road a couple of times, dropped it in snow and use it for commuting.

After 40+ years of riding it's still a bloody great bike and I did not look anywhere else for the replacement.
