A new Michelin map

I ordered one via Amazon. And have had a message from Amazon that it has been held in Customs for further inspections! You could not make it up. A Brexit benefit, I am sure

They’ll probably send it to Rwanda and chalk it up as a clear sign of secured borders.

My box of things from Amazon France, was sitting on my doorstep in E1 this evening on my return from the wilds of Essex. No sign of any customs interest. Strange old world.

I'm still waiting for my map to arrive.
On the other hand some 4x4 recovery straps I ordered from a small business in Cairns, Queensland, were despatched last Monday, went via Singapore, Bahrain, Leipzig, East Midlands, Aberdeen, Inverness to me, all within 7 days and nobody bothered to ask for vat or duty.

Note about GPX files-
You'll need to scan the QR code to download them-
They will need a bit of tweaking- some contain a route, some just a track, others have both- so your choice
FR.jpgQR codes obsucred as not to possibly breach any copyrights

I have now looked at the Michelin map. It seems pretty good. Not least as it is easy to see how (with a bit of imagination and effort) you could join the some of suggestions up. For a couple of quid spent (when divided between the obligatory six mates) it’s a decent enough thing to order.

I have also had a look at the six books and two other maps (those from IGN) that I ordered. All good but all in French, naturally. That doesn’t bother me too much as a map and a route is a map and a route. These publications are always streets ahead (pun intended) of anything in the UK.

The routes download well from the Michelin map. Here is a sample of one, using nothing more than an iPhone and into Pocket Earth, sat in a cafe.

It’s the light blue route, which also matches up (in part at least) with a route I have already ridden in the area, shown in dark blue.

Kinda related but loosely. I now have my French map and wonderful it is (Thanks, Richard). However, I am having issues scanning the QR code thingies with Google lens to get the GPX routes. They are very small and fuzzy up close but too far away when in focus. Dr Google doesn't seem to have any solutions I understand.
Any ideas?

C’est bon

The QR codes work fine on my iPhone. That is not a lot of help or indeed, any at all.
