The Private Road??

Alan, as far as I know the road over the hill from Glen Lochay to Glen Lyon ( or the other way:D) was - and perhaps, still is "private":nenau. Years ago the gate on the part over the hill was kept locked, the estate was owned at that time by the Wills family ( W.D. & H.O. Wills - fags:eek: ) and maybe still is? - I think it still must be private because the signs at both ends still show it as a dead-end:confused:.
As you say it's not in very good nick - a bit bumpy!! - and the bit near the farm at the Glen Lochay end is often VERY slippy:rolleyes::(.
The road through Glen Lyon, however is SUPERB on a GS:thumb and makes up for any failings elsewhere:D

I'm fed up of this winter stuff already!!!!

Cheers.....................Grizzly:beer:

You and me both George...

Sheet ice here today...rain falling on frozen ground.....even the ballast on the level crossing at home was a challenge to walk across this morning....

Aye George.............

you'r not wrong there . Was always told the road was private - but - for masel' , never did see a sign although there is a gate on the west side o' the burn frae the dam.
Still think it's open to get repaired on public purse.
As an aside, never checked but was told that if a road is used by public services e.g. postie, milkman, scaffie etc it is not considered a closed private road.
Sure someone will elucidate on that one.
cheers.

Milkman!!!!!! - Scaffie!!!!

Here Alan I must be up there at the wrang time o day - Iv'e no seen a milkman or a scaffie up there yet:nenau.
Also, as an aside, is that the correct spelling of "scaffie" ?? -and is that description used throughout the nation??? - or just a local variation??? ( by nation, I mean Scotland of course:hide)

Cheers...............Grizzly:beer:

I remember one specific run sometime ago into Kenmore...

...was over some mad "B" roads/tracks which I clearly recall did not suit my RGV....

....there was a very narrow road over one of the many hills and into Kenmore, I recall driving through forest before we climbed the hill...

...does anyone have any idea what roads this might have been from what I realise is a pish poor step for a hint....:augie:augie

trying to protect the guilty and not getting ma heid stoved in when I'm in Ireland next....:augie

Okay Ronno I will enlighten you. The boys decided to go exploring "little roads" and I was okay with this. But as the roads got longer and towns further apart one needed to pee and quite badly

I think I scared Gary somewhat as my mood changed :augie
