I have dug out my copy of this book. Thirteen walks, one a month, starting in January…..

What I’ll do is do the walks and post up what I see and do along the way. There is bound to be something of interest, even if it’s just misaligned buildings:

Whilst my iPhone takes very good pictures and, not least, records where I am standing, I have got a very good digital ‘proper’ camera and some lenses, which I really should learn how to use properly. A good an excuse as any.

Wapping, I'll take the recommendation and have this ordered. it'll put in a few evenings when in the city.

Look forward to it Wapping..... been catching up with my 2 favourite London YouTube walkers...... John Rogers and RobsLondon 👍👍

I wonder if it touches on the covered rivers ? I traced the one running through Mayfair to Shepherds Market over several summer dawns; the markers are there but gradually being eroded by developments.

Wonderful, thank you.
My wife and I are going to try and visit That London more often and this sort if thing is right up our street - that plus the sort of pubs you visit and post pictures of.
I'm going to offer to employ you as our tour guide for the weekend when you're back on your feet when I'm back on my feet.

A very good question. I think not, as it’s based more around architecture.

I will though have a look for this:

I have often stood on Fleet Street, of course and at Sloane Square tube, where a river runs across the tracks in a box.

I did the River Fleet walk a few years back - really interesting and there were about 6 really top quality old London boozers along the way too. What's not to like?

There are 13 walks in the book.

Rather than me walk them numerically, I am happy to have UKGSer chose a number at random each month.

Who is going to kick me off in January, please? Any number you like between one and 12 inclusive. See post #15.

Splendid.

Having had three months, near enough immobile and then three months getting moving again, I am keen to get out and about. The walks at least have some purpose and will get me to see some bits of London which I have not seen for years or have just flashed through. I have bought a couple of other books too, to see what their authors recommend.

I enjoy free public transport in London, right out to the very edges, so I might as well make use of it.

How about starting with your birth date lucky number?
To find that take your full date of birth, for example 20.07.1958, adde all the numbers together, 2+0+0÷7+1+9+5+8 =32, then add those together until you reach a single number, in this case 3+2 = 5. So your lucky number in this example would be 5.
Why not do that for your own date of birth, find your lucky no. and start with that one?

Hah! Choose a walk ... any walk! You're gonna like this!

Perfect, my number is (so I have now learned) is 13.

That leaves 12 numbers, one for each month of 2024.

Eight is gone.

Almost, it's actually 4 (3+1) but 13 is good for the purposes of this exercise. Have a great Christmas, stay safe.

So daughter #2 tells me that she's walking the TfL Capital Ring or "Green Chain Walk"? She also mentioned GoJauntly (cue for a Dylan Thomas pun! :D). It's an app which lists hunners of walks all over the UK. It looks very useful indeed ...

Using the birth date lucky number formula Number 7

Using the birthday lucky number formula I come up with 7. please.
July …perfect

Number 7 please.
I don’t know how I managed to attach it to Pete’s post

January walk 8
February walk 7

I’ll have a look in the book to see where these’ll take me.

Walk 13, which God willing I’ll do in January 2025 is, Brixton.
