A Potter Around the Vercors.

XT works very well , when actually in use . My only bug bear is no easy way to plan routes on iPad and sync, like I can with my Tom Tom 550 and MyDrive app .

Great screen . Always clear even on bright sunlight , which I’ve had all week !!

Don't Michelin have a route planning app for an iPad ?

Yes, I’ve been using it for ages . ViaMichelin. All my screenshots are taken from that . If only I could sync the routes from ViaMichelin to the XT !!

Perhaps you can ?

Ricardo ????

There's a thread on here somewhere about the XT. Sounds a faff but I guess you could get used to it. Strange that Tom Tom can do it but the mighty Garmin can't.

But the road is stunning. So stunning that last year Evskij actually took his 1290S out of Rain mode just for the occasion !!!!

That is actually very true. No point in explaining reasons now, but I’ve hardly ever use rain mode now. Mainly in town, to soften the throttle response or if it is absolutely biblical downpour. I rather have those clever electronics covering my arse.

One from last year.

The summit look like a rocket about to launch !!

Shame you didn’t get a chance to get to the top as views from there are stunning and one can see for miles on end. Descent on the other side is completely the opposite and road is covered with a forest canopy.

I don't know which way home you'll be going, but if you can work in a visit to this place it'll finish your holiday off nicely! you need to book or you won't get in. Incredible food. I'm not a fancysmanshy foodie, rather go to a good pub, but this place was exceptional in every way.

Bastard!

I’m soooooo jealous of those blue skies, curvy roads. And everything else.

Enjoy.

The Bug killed my 10 day trip to Spa via various German and Belgian highways, so I’m struggling with such a quiet 2020.

I got higher than in the photos as it’s only the summit closed . View was impressive but nothing like being up the Cime de la Bonnette.

Cheeky sod. Nothing has fallen off .Bike has been faultless ......so far !

Those views are cracking too...

I can recommend the Hotel Colombet in Nyons .
Right in the main square with securebikermate parking in garage attached .
The place has faded charm , though the a/c works well.
It’s been here a while

Brekky was a tad shite though .

Assume you do not need to quarantine??

Your job gives you a pass???

I thought my job gave me a pass (will it did until 31/07/20) so better check the small print Martin. :)

I bet Knob Jockey’s will probably still be exempt mind.

Superb scenery and a great report, safe journey home and thanks for posting your routes and pics.
I drive very close each year and will now detour for a bimble......

Quick coffee stop in the Ardèche .
Ha ha , I was expecting this question before 171 posts in .
The answer is yes I do have to quarantine but only until I next fly .
I’ve got a standby block from 26-28 so might have to leg it back on 25th , otherwise I’m not flying till 31st.
So planning on coming back 28th ish, quarantine for a couple of days then fly out 31st.
Crazy rules as I’m out of quarantine on return . I could even do a day trip (we do the odd one)and then be free from quarantine on my return .
I didn’t write the rules !

Today there were clouds ! Just light fluffy ones, but what a bloody liberty !!!!

Started off with a quick ride over the Pont Roman in Nyons

And then I plotted a route to the Limousin.
I was to stay with Rob and Mandy at Rider’s Rest near Treignac.Kind of a home from home as they’re from Guernsey .

So the obvious route was through these lovely regions :

Ardèche-Auvergne-Corrèze-Limousin.

Never really done the Ardèche but I did the rest last year and it was stunning.

Some great roads to follow.Even some roundabouts were real corkers :

My Garmin XT was very helpful-even the text alerts were coming in handy :

The route though the Ardèche was stunning, if a little heavy on traffic.Basically follow the N102,though it becomes the N88 for a bit in the middle :

Nearly 6000 ft up, the temperatures were way down on yesterday, which was a relief.

Then hang a left and hit the Auvergne.
Did this last year and it’s unbelievable !! ZERO traffic, much of it new tarmac and all of it race track smooth with the added bonus of speed limits back up to 90kmh :

This is the best bit :

It’s so barren and quiet with corners so smooth

Bag a col or two

afa00a54bbb798dedbb84f6cb0333609.jpg

Then blat through the Corrèze into the Limousin.Lovely roads and scenery, but was ,er , making progress, so few pics....

Then pitch up at Rider’s Rest.

It’s here,so a great stop off in central France :

Book the Comfort Rate and you get a three course evening meal, cooked brekky and all the tea/coffee/beer and wine you can drink.

They have a bunk room for Yorkshire people too.
