I want to try and run both these items together on the bike. The waistcoat draws 4.1 amp at full pelt, and the glove liners 2.2 amps.
Questions :
1) Is it possible to connect both items at same time to F800GS, and if so which switch / plug should I use.
2) If using both items on another "non canbus" bike, say an XT660R, can I wire both items directly to the battery?

Happy New Year everyone

Can't see any reason why not (for the XT660) though it may pay to have the bike connected to a battery conditioner when not in use. I have wired up my Keis? wasitcoat and Khann? heated gloves (well the battery cables for these) to my XT660Z Teneres battery. Minor issue is the battery bolts are a bit tricky to thread due to number of addtional wires (as I have a couple of GPS power cables as well).

On the F800GS it would be worth checking the current rating of the accessory socket, my guess would be 5Amp max (probably fused at that).

Alternator (on the Ten- same engine as the xt660x/r range) is rated at nominal 20.8Amps @5K revs and the rectifier is rated at 35A max.
If you pulling 6.3 amps with these, lamps about ~4Amps (led rear and 55watt front) leaves around 10amps for the motor (above 5k revs) before your draining the battery .. all figures wet finger fudged and I have no idea how many amps the motor takes to run.
As you cant turn the lamps off it may be prudent to turn the heated kit off when not needed .

Don't plug them into the pathetic socket on the F800, 5 amps is your lot, and I suspect heated clothing draws a lot more than that. I've wired mine direct to the battery with an in-line 10amp fuse.
